Freddy, Filbert and Penelope are the stars of an updated fire safety video to be shown in schools, teaching children about the importance of fire safety in the home.

The original film, Freddy and Filbert's Fire Escape Plan, was released in the mid 1990s and had become outdated and irrelevant so Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service has commissioned a new video: Freddy and Filbert's Escape Plan II: The Refill.

The video teaches primary school children about the importance of not playing with matches, covering topics such as electrical safety and cooking safety; what to do in the event of a fire and how to form an escape plan. It will be available to purchase by other fire services nationwide for use in schools and colleges as part of a community fire safety resource pack which includes teaching notes.
